1. Flexible Enrollment and Admission:

- Block 1: For students who wish to appear in the April/May exams. Enrollment is usually open from March to July of the previous year.
- Block 2: For students who wish to appear in the October/November exams. Enrollment is typically open from September to January of the same year.
- No Age Limit: NIOS is open to all learners without an upper age limit, though there are minimum age requirements for different courses (14 years for Secondary and 15 years for Senior Secondary).

Face-to-Face Support: NIOS organizes Personal Contact Programs (PCPs) at Accredited Institutions (AIs), which are study centers located in different parts of the country. These programs provide face-to-face interaction with teachers to help students with their studies, clarify doubts, and conduct practical sessions if needed.

Optional Attendance: Attendance at PCPs is usually optional, giving students the flexibility to decide when and if they want to attend based on their needs.
5. Assignments and Continuous Assessment:
- Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs): Students are required to submit assignments (TMAs) as part of continuous assessment. These assignments are designed to reinforce learning and are an important part of the evaluation process, contributing to the final marks.

7. Transfer of Credit (TOC):
- Credit Transfer: NIOS allows the transfer of credits from other recognized boards. If a student has passed some subjects from another board, they may not need to retake those exams with NIOS. This is helpful for students who want to switch boards or continue their education after a break.
8. Certification and Recognition:
- National and International Recognition: NIOS certificates are recognized by various boards, universities, and employers across India and abroad. This means students can use their NIOS qualifications to pursue higher education or employment opportunities.
