Yes, NITs (National Institutes of Technology) accept students who have completed their Class 12 from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), including those who have taken the On-Demand exams.
NIOS is recognized by the Ministry of Education, and students who meet the required eligibility criteria for JEE Main and NIT admissions are eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria:
- JEE Main Qualification: You must qualify in JEE Main just like students from other boards.
- 75% Marks Requirement:
- You need to have at least 75% aggregate marks in your Class 12 exams (65% for SC/ST candidates), or
- Be in the top 20 percentile of your NIOS board results.
If the 75% criteria is relaxed in the year you are applying (as it has been during COVID-19 years), you may only need to qualify JEE Main without this requirement.
