Yes, IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) recognize the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) as a valid board for admission to their programs. NIOS is a government-recognized board, and its certifications are considered equivalent to those from other recognized boards like CBSE, ICSE, and state boards.

For eligibility to the IITs through the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination), students from NIOS must meet the same criteria as students from other boards, which generally include:

  1. Qualifying Examination: NIOS is considered a valid qualifying examination board, so NIOS students who meet the other eligibility requirements (such as passing the required subjects with the necessary percentage) can appear for JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

  2. Subject Requirements: The students must have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with the required subjects, typically Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  3. Percentage Criteria: NIOS students must also meet the minimum percentage criteria in their qualifying examination, similar to students from other boards.

  4. Other Eligibility Criteria: This includes the age limit, the number of attempts, and other criteria specified by the IITs and the JEE conducting body.

As long as these criteria are fulfilled, NIOS students are fully eligible to compete for a seat in the IITs through the JEE.
